How to choose water temperature for tea and coffee

Water temperature can influence how tea and coffee taste. As a general direction, lighter teas usually suit gentler water, while fully fermented teas often call for hotter water. Coffee requirements can also vary by roast and preparation method.

Always follow the temperature and preparation directions on your tea or coffee packaging. These instructions are designed for that particular product and should take priority over general guidance.

How fixed-temperature dispensing helps

The Electrolux 700 RO Hot&Cold water purifier counter top (EPWF2KCZOW) offers six hot-water settings as 45, 55, 65, 75, 85 and 98°C plus ambient water, heating in about 3 seconds. This makes it easier to select a consistent setting without repeatedly boiling and cooling water.

The 700 also provides six preset volumes as 120, 180, 250, 350, 500 and 750 mL, plus manual dispensing. Its 5-litre raw-water tank, 1.5-litre clean-water tank and two separate outlets support different drinks throughout the day.

The touch panel displays raw and clean-water TDS, a colour water-quality indicator, filter life with replacement alerts, a low-water light, and the hot and cold water temperatures. These visible controls help you organise drink preparation when counter space and time are limited.

Cold water for iced drinks

For Thailand's warm, humid days, the 700 provides two chilled-water ranges: 5–12°C for colder drinks and 13–20°C for a milder chill. Use them for plain chilled water or as a base for iced tea and coffee, following the drink packaging.

A 0.5-litre cold-water tank maintains the chilled supply, while the cooling system replenishes it in about nine minutes. The manufacturer describes the cooling operation as quiet, and a separate switch lets you turn cooling off when it is not needed.

Filtration and remineralisation for taste

Good drinks begin with filtered water. The 700 uses four filtration stages: a polypropylene and activated-carbon pre-filter, an RO filter, and a coconut-shell activated-carbon post-filter with remineralisation.

The system carries the WQA Gold Seal. SGS testing found 100% removal of residual chlorine and microplastics, over 99% lead removal, over 99.9% removal of tested bacteria and norovirus, and no detectable BPA in the purified water. Remineralisation adds calcium, magnesium, sodium and potassium ions after RO filtration to refine the water's taste.

Dual UVC protection periodically treats the clean-water and cold-water tanks. Testing found removal of up to 99.97% of bacteria in the clean-water tank and up to 99.88% in the cold-water tank. A child lock supports households with young children, while the stainless-steel drip tray helps keep the worktop tidy.

Choosing between the 700 and the compact 600

The 700 RO Water Purifiers measures 230 mm wide, 475 mm deep and 387 mm high, weighs 13.8 kg and has power figures of 1,500 W heating, 1,600 W rated and 80 W cooling. Its hot, chilled and room-temperature options suit households that prepare varied drinks regularly.

For a smaller condo kitchen, the Electrolux 600 RO Hot water purifier counter top (EPWE2KOZOW) measures 219 mm wide, 370 mm deep and 363 mm high. It weighs 6.7 kg, has a 4-litre raw-water tank, a 1.5-litre clean-water tank and one outlet, with a rated power consumption of 1,600 W.

The 600 offers six hot-water settings as 45, 55, 65, 75, 85 and 98°C plus ambient water, along with 250 mL and 500 mL presets and manual dispensing. Testing found UVC removed over 99% of bacteria in its clean-water tank, but it does not provide chilled water.

For both models, the pre-filter and activated-carbon filter have a six-month replacement interval, while the RO filter has a two-year interval. Actual replacement timing may also depend on usage limits and water conditions.
